Feminism Moving Forward

There are many problems in our world, there have always been many problems, but the ones that are rising now are ones we haven’t dealt with. In the past century or so, we can see the results and patterns of them beginning to form. They didn’t necessarily start as problems, for example, when the telephone was invented, we needed less mailmen and more women working to connect phone lines. This was very empowering for women and for society. Then as phones advanced, they began running themselves, and we no longer needed telephone operators, so we lost that job. We see this same problem reoccurring in places like stores. When you see a self-checkout that’s one less person who has a job. Tech, science, coding and math are evolving, and we can choose to revolt against them or grow with them. If technology is going to take our jobs, then it looks like our jobs need to be in technology. Our whole livelihood is changing, and I believe it is going to be the millennium of women. We no longer need a man to go out and make ends meet just because their DNA says there stronger. Pretty soon I doubt we will even need to give birth. I understand when the world was evolving to where it is now physical strength was essential. Men had to work, and women had to be mothers. I think the future with science and coding will allow girls to be equal. Statistics say it will take 100 years until equality is finally complete, but with technology and social media we can reach people and convince people at a much faster rate. If we can get girls to find jobs in tech then they will no longer have to grow up being told they should be at home cleaning and bearing children. Women won’t have to feel shamed or feel like less, they will grow up knowing they are worth just as much as any man. This is one of my biggest reasons for wanting so much from myself because anything I accomplish won’t just be for me. My accomplishments it will be for every woman alive and any woman who died thinking she was worth less just because her body had curves that a mans didn’t. Equality starts with women, but until men agree, we won’t be able to lead a completely equal life. I want to be part of the movement of discovering and improving the problems technology causes. I want to help keep technology helping humankind not over taking it. I want t help discover ways for the world to support the mass population that’s growing. We must look destruction in the face, we can’t be afraid.
